Teenager plans to marry her father

New York Magazine published a recent article about an eighteen year old girl that plans to marry her father. The two were estranged for about 12 years and the father then reached out to her on Facebook. She went to stay with him for a week and then she stated that they had sex and then started dating.

For most people, it goes without saying that this is just plain wrong. But to be justified we’ll go by the word of God, which has the final say so and authority on everything.

Leviticus 18:6-7 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord. Near of kin means family and uncover their nakedness means having a sexual relationship with someone.7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

She said that after they had sex, “It felt so natural. It didn’t even feel taboo. I felt like I had just made love with a man who I’d been with for years.”

Our minds are a very deceptive place and what often times seems so right or “natural” in her case will lead to nothing but death and destruction if we don’t amend our ways and repent.

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

What she’s doing seems like the right thing to do [to her] but breaking that commandment in Leviticus 18:6-7 and not repenting from it will bring about death and destruction when Christ returns.

Isaiah 55:7-8 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

We can’t go by our thoughts and what feels natural. We have to go by what God commands us because as stated before, our minds are very deceptive.

She goes on to say, “Those who know that he’s my dad, and that we are engaged, include my father’s parents (they can see we are happy together and they can’t wait for us to have babies-they treat us just like any other couple), the woman we live with, and my best friend.”

People have to realize that when we go against the laws that are written in the bible, it is considered to be a sin.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4

Read our blog article on what is sin.

So the people that know their familial relationship should be correcting them.

Leviticus 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
