Are Children that Lie Really Smarter?

Is your child constantly being caught in a lie? Well according to the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, your child may not be very smart. A recent study asserts that your child’s ability to tell believable lies is a good indication of how smart they are. Although lying is seen as unacceptable behavior in most social circles, this study takes the focus away from questions of morality in an attempt to praise the child’s intellect. But in a world where the vile and perverse is often praised as good, it is important to teach our children what the Holy Bible tells us about the sin of lying.

Psalm 52:3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness.

Psalm 119:163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.

Psalm 120:2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.

These are but a few scriptures that highlight just how deplorable the practice of lying is in the sight of God. For those who would be swayed by this report to endure the folly of lies in a child or adult, take heed to this commandment of the Lord!

Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
