“I believe Jesus would approve of gay marriage”

This is what ex-president Jimmy Carter stated in the Huffington Post interview. He is wrong in this statement! Jesus was asked about marriage and this is what he stated.

Matthew 19:4-5 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a MAN leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his WIFE: and they twain shall be one flesh?

From this scripture you can see that Jesus said that a marriage is between a man and a woman and not two people of the same gender.

Of course this story has taken off on the Internet with people stating their opinions. One of the more interesting comments came from the MSN article to this story. One person commented that Jimmy Carter was wrong and quoted the above referenced scripture and someone then replied to his comment and said that those are Matthew’s word and not Jesus’s word and Jesus told us not to judge.

If you have a red-edition bible you will see that those words are in red, signifying that those are Jesus Christ’s direct words.

Also, concerning judging (Matthew 7:1)-which people take out of context, is Christ warning us against hypocritical judgment.

People need to read their bibles first before they go and start quoting what they think and feel is right.

Gay marriage is wrong in the eyes of the Lord and it was never meant for two men or two women to come together in such a union.

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

This is not a law that Jesus Christ came and did away with.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. These are direct words from Jesus Christ.

It is a big misconception that Jesus Christ came and did away with the Old Testament and we can live whatever way we want to, but as we can see from the above referenced scripture, that is not the case.

Many so-called “born again” Christians, don’t read their bibles and just make things up as they go along or sometimes just follow what their pastors tell them and don’t check the facts for themselves.

We should not be that way and search the scriptures for ourselves to make sure that we’re not getting fed a bunch of malarkey.

People in the past who studied the word of God were highly respected in the Church.

Acts 17:11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

It is also important to know that if we’re not advocating for the things that Jesus taught, we’re not his servants. Please check out the following video for more info.
