Everybody Has a Tattoo, but Nobody Talks About the Side Effects

Huffington Post recently ran an article with the same title as above, originally taken from The Lancet, an online forum that produces weekly journals in the areas of global health. The article talks about how tattoos have become the mainstream thing now where it seems like everyone has one,but no one talks about the long term risk of living with ink under your skin.

Many people do not know that the bible actually forbids us from getting tattoos.

Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.

Medical researches aside, whenever we go against the commandments of God we run the risk of getting judged by him and the form of judgement could come in the way of getting cancer through the various ingredients that are used in the ink or even organ toxicity.

When the Israelites were given this commandment, along with others, they were told by the Lord to keep them and if they didn’t, getting a disease would be one form of punishment.

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Some people will argue that these are Old Testament laws which we no longer have to do because Jesus Christ came and did away with them. But that is wrong because Christ told us that he did not come to get rid of any of the laws or the prophets that wrote them (in this particular case, Moses).

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Christ came and fulfilled things written about him, such as dying on the cross as a sacrifice for the Israelites.

We have to obey God, through his son Jesus Christ in everything and getting tattooed is going against his will.
