So we, being many, are one body in Christ,
and every one members one of another.
Romans 12:5
Ecclesiastes 7:5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
The Bible explains that it is better to hear correction from a wise person rather than listen to the song of a fool. What is the song of a fool? All you have to do is turn on the radio and hear what people are listening to today. Gone are the days of tuning into your favorite radio station and hearing songs about improving the community, encouraging words and/or constructive protests against social injustice. Instead we have songs that encourage drug dealing, fornication, addiction, murder, stealing and all manner of sin in heavy rotation on every station.
Jeremiah 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
Psalms 52:1-3 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness.
After reading these scriptures, you should understand that the songs of fools is music that promotes sin and wickedness. The “artists” boast about how they break the commandments of God and are rewarded because of it. The scriptures say we are “wise to do evil.” Instead of rapping/singing about something that will build our community, they make foolish songs that promote our destruction through sin. Let’s examine just a few of these “hits.”
Our children are being bombarded with these negative and wicked messages on a daily basis. The tunes are catchy, the singing/rapping is seductive and through repetition even adults begin to say “young nigga move that dope.” We must carefully consider the messages that they are trying to send to our children. It is not good, righteous or acceptable to “put a smile on the Devil’s face.” It is evil and destructive! So how do we fight against the efforts of the wicked?
Ephesians 2:1-3 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Satan is everywhere in this world. He influences the media, music and television to promote his agenda. We must repent in Christ, learn the scriptures and teach our children about this conspiracy against them. Only then will the evil influence of this world be diminished.
Proverbs 15:31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
Proverbs 1:5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
Ecclesiastes 7:5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
When our children are taught according to the scriptures and armed with the knowledge of what is righteous versus wicked, they are able to withstand the forces of Satan and make the right choices. It is better for the children to learn the scriptures and live than to listen to these songs of fools, sin and die.
We pray that this article leads to repentance and edification for all that read it.
