“Why would you need a commandment or law about that? It’s common sense that we shouldn’t do that.” When discussing the Bible, Christ and repentance, that is an argument you will often hear. People feel that their own moral compass is enough to direct their lives without realizing that not everyone has the same morality. The teachings of the Most High and Christ in the Bible are necessary because they guide us to the righteousness of the Heavenly Father and prevent us from using our own evil minds to determine what is right and wrong. One of the laws that people believe fall in the category of not being needed is:

Leviticus 18:23  Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

While most states have laws against this sin, bestiality (sex with animals) is legal in  Washington D.C., Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming. That is 10 states that do not have laws against this vile act which makes bestiality legal. In Germany, sex with animals is 100% legal! It is a subculture that many people do not know exists. According to ZETA, the organization for zoophiles, zoophilia is “love and (sexual) partnership with animals.” What does the Bible say about it?

Leviticus 20:15  And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.

Proverbs 28:13  He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

God said it is a sin and that we are not to commit this abomination. There shouldn’t be a relationship between men and animals other than as pets or livestock. The judgment for this sin was for the man and the beast to be put to death if they had sex under the law of Moses. Under Christ and the new covenant, people have an opportunity to repent by acknowledging it is a sin and not committing bestiality again. If they choose not to obey the scriptures, there will be a punishment worse than death.

Hebrews 10:28-29  He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:  (29)  Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Proverbs 28:13 says,  “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper…”  Borrowing from the LGBT community first and now the pedophiles have taken up the same position, zoophiles claim that their love for animals is just another sexual orientation. In fact, Michael Kiok of ZETA stated, “Psychologists studied 120 zoophiles and found that zoophilia is a sexual orientation. You can’t just stop these feelings.” That is a perfect example of a man covering his sin. Instead of saying the scriptures are right and I have to stop, they find a way to justify their sins. We have to deny our ungodly lusts, repent and follow the scriptures. We can not simply do what we want to do because it “feels” good. We must stop the fornication!

1 Thessalonians 4:1-5  Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.  (2)  For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.  (3)  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:  (4)  That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;  (5)  Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

Galatians 3:19  Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

The Children of Israel were given the law so we would understand what the transgressions are that we are committing. Our righteous forefathers were obedient unto the Most High without having a written law but in these last days we have Christ and the scriptures to teach us the ways of the Heavenly Father. Next time you think, “Why would you need a law like this.” remember it is because people have and are committing the sin! We pray that if you are committing this sin, you repent and be healed according to the grace of Christ.
