Is Your Wife Nagging You To Death????

The Holy Bible tells us that wives were given to man as a help from God. The strength, honor and love that a wife brought to her husband was meant to provide him with rest, comfort, vitality and ultimately prolong his life in peace. But according to a study performed by the University of Copenhagen, many of today’s women are literally nagging their husbands to death. The study first conducted in 2014 found that husbands who have wives that complain and nag incessantly will live significantly shorter lives and are more likely to develop serious health issues such as heart disease and cancer.
These findings are disturbing not only for health reasons but also because it totally contradicts the values of a virtuous wife spoken of in the Biblical book of Proverbs chapter 31.

Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

The scriptures tell us that a virtuous woman is a treasure that will bring good into the life of her husband. But too often we see and hear of how many of today’s marriages end in bitter divorce based on hatred, jealousy and strife often from external sources.

Proverbs 26:20Where no wood is, [there] the fire goeth out: so where [there is] no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
James 3:14 -16 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.

nagging 2The scriptures warn us that this spirit of envy and strife is evil and Satanic with no place in a marriage among followers of Christ.

Proverbs 10:12Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins

In the book of Ephesians Chapter 5:25-33, the Heavenly Father decrees that the love between husband and wife should be as deep and profound as the love between Jesus Christ and his Church. This is why the scriptures tell us that “Hatred strirreth up strifes”: but it is the love of Christ that helps us to conquer all sins.

For the women in Christ who are reading this article, please understand that this is not an attack on your character but rather an exhortation and admonishment.

Proverbs 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

A wife has every right to criticize, question and even rebuke a husband when necessary, but remember, a virtuous woman filled with the Holy Spirit can do this with dignity, wisdom, grace and a loving tongue! It is our prayer that this article will promote some much needed dialogue for couples in Christ who are struggling to find their way.
