Walgreens Looted as Southwest Atlanta was in Darkness

Hurricane “Irma” traversed several Caribbean islands, Florida and Georgia and ravished every place it touched. Life has been lost, property destroyed and people are struggling to make it without power. The scriptures show that when incidents like this occur, we should take heed, reflect on our lives and repent. Some people are taking note and examining themselves while others are using the unrest and chaos as an opportunity for wickedness.

Early this morning, I went out to pick up a prescription at the local Walgreens in Southwest Atlanta. The area was destitute of electricity and the majority of businesses were closed as a result of the power outages. When I arrived at the Walgreens, much to my dismay, I saw the damage that was caused during the storm. It was not the result of high winds. A tree did not fall on the store. It was looters who smashed through the front door and made off with the items they desired. This is happening throughout the U.S. and the world anytime a catastrophe hits. Pharmacies, sneaker, electronic and jewelry stores are the usual first victims.

Amos 3:6-7  Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?  (7)  Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Jeremiah 23:19-20  Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.  (20)  The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

Instead of considering why hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters are destroying the Earth. Wicked men that refuse to repent use these events to further prosper in their wickedness. Looting, burglaries and scams increase during these times and we must be cautious and alert. The Most High sees their sins and they will not continue to take advantage of people and prosper.

Psalms 10:2-4  The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.  (3)  For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.  (4)  The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Looting, burglaries and scams are all sins that violate the 8th commandment. Exodus 20:15  Thou shalt not steal. If you are looting, you are a thief and you must repent. During these times of catastrophe and  chaos, we should be focusing on what we need to do to draw closer to the Lord not creating a wider gulf between us by adding sin unto sin!

1 Corinthians 6:9-10  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  (10)  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 4:28  Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
