With so many stories in the news today reporting the death of children and infants at the hands of abusive and neglectful parents; the story of young Jeremiah Jenkins is both refreshing and heartwarming. 6-year-old Jeremiah was born with a condition that permanently damaged both of his kidneys. At a time in life when most children live in carefree bliss, Jeremiah’s world was comprised of repeated surgeries and long hospital stays. But despite the tribulations that this brave child would face there was always one thing that sustained him, the love of his father!
Psalms Chapter 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Jeremiah Sr. discovered early on that he was a perfect candidate to provide a kidney to his ailing son. Now, after 6 long years, the date for the surgery has been set and young Jeremiah is looking forward to a long, healthy life due to his father’s gift.
“A father will do anything for his child to survive, live and have the best life that they can. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him,” Jeremiah Sr. said.
Psalms Chapter 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
