With the rise of social media and the internet, astrology and witchcraft has risen to new levels, especially amongst younger people, so called Millenials and Gen Xers.
There was a recent story published in The Atlantic magazine which states “in this stressful, data-driven era, many young people find comfort and insight in the zodiac-even if they don’t exactly believe in it.”
For a while astrology was sort of in the background but according to the article, within the last five years it has grabbed a foothold in online culture, especially amongst young people. The article states, “Astrology is a meme, and it’s spreading in that blooming, unfurling way that memes do. On social media, astrologers and astrology meme machines amass tens or hundreds of thousands of followers.”
What is astrology?
To put it simple so that everyone can understand, astrology is the studying of the celestial bodies and the correlation to our personality; going into things such as “I’m pisces or gemini.”
This practice is as old as time itself and it is wickedness in the eyes of God and we are not suppose to be into any of it.
Different names have been given to this practice over the years but it’s all the same thing.
Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.
You might think that doing something such as a meme is innocent but the Lord gave us the following warning.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Many people turn to astrology because of stress and uncertainty about the future but the Lord does not want us to do that. Instead he wants us to listen to his son Jesus Christ and follow his instructions on how to live our lives.
Deuteronomy 18:14-15 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
What was Christ instruction on what we should do when we’re stressing about certain things?
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Christ is telling us here that we should always be seeking to live a righteous life according to the commandments and we’ll be taken care of in all aspects of our life.
The other phenomenon that has seen a rise online is witchcraft and casting spells.
Just like you go to amazon and add your items to the cart and enter your credit/debit card details to check out, the same fashion is used to cast a spell on someone on different websites. You enter the person’s info that you want to cast a spell on and you check out using your credit/debit card.
There are also websites that sell witchcraft supplies and will also do free witchcraft spells.
This is certainly the era where you can hide behind a computer and do anything. You don’t have to be out in the open.
But the Lord God sees everything and you cannot hide from him.
Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
To do witchcraft and cast spells is evil, wickedness and sin in the eyes of God.
It is such an abominable act, that in biblical times anyone that practiced witchcraft were to be put to death.
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Leviticus 19:26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
Deuteronomy 18:10,12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
If you are reading this blog article and into any of these things mentioned, you should repent and do them no more.
Acts 17:30-31 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
