Everyone in the world right now is dealing with some form of confusion, frustration or stress amid the pandemic that’s currently taking place, some worse than others. Some people have lost their job or loved ones-and in quite a few instances some people didn’t even get a chance to see their loved ones before their passing or was even able to attend their funeral.
Many people are stressed out just being locked in their houses and are dealing with anger, depression, violence towards others, alcohol or drug abuse and other things.
During this stressful time it’s very important to know that the things that are currently happening is bible prophecy and there’s nothing that we can do to stop it but we should be ever mindful of our actions and repent from any wrongs that we have done.
When you read throughout the bible and see people that have gone through similar situations or worse or even when you look at when Christ was giving instructions to his followers about difficult situations that would be coming on the earth before his second return, one word comes up every time. Patience
For example, in Luke the 21st chapter when talking to his disciples about the different trials and tribulations they would go through, he told them in verse 19.
In your patience possess ye your souls.
This is key to us understanding how to deal with things in this time.
Before we brake it down to the most simplistic level, lets take a look at some other scriptures where the importance of us applying patience during this pandemic is of the utmost importance.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
So what does the word patience actually mean?
the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset; showing self-control
With this definition in mind, going back to Luke 21:19, dealing with not getting angry or upset and showing self control is us doing the things that will not get our souls destroyed.
So for examples, during this pandemic domestic violence has risen because people are dealing with hatred for one another and now they’re forced to stay for long periods of time together under one roof, that built up anger and hatred has lead to an increase in domestic violence.
Child abuse has also risen during the pandemic and it’s because of some of the same reasons, anger and frustration due to the quarantine.
There have also been a significant increase in alcohol abuse-people trying to drink their problems away or as a way to alleviate their stress. The same goes for drugs whether it be what’s considered to be illicit drugs or overdosing on prescription drugs.
It should go without saying that these things are all wrong in the eyes of God and when we do these things or other wicked things, we’re not possessing our souls. You’re not like the ones in Revelation 14:12 that kept the commandments no matter what the circumstance was and was inheriting eternal life.
If you find yourself lacking patience (going by the definition) and committing sins, you should repent and ask for forgiveness.
Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
As a group of people whose ancestors were brought to these lands as slaves, we have continued to suffer in the worst ways possible with almost any plague or disaster that happens in the world (as in the current pandemic as being widely reported) and instead of amending our ways to get healed, we add sin unto sin by doing some of the aforementioned things like the domestic and alcohol abuse.
But as long as the world is still standing, the Lord is ready with an open arm to accept us back when we change our ways.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
