Murder Music: A Young Black Man Murdered for Loud Music

Another young Black adolescent has been murdered under some very suspicious circumstances. This case begins with a 17 year old young Black male named Jordan Russell that was sitting in the back seat of a car in front of a convenience store. He was listening to music.  A 45 year old White male, Michael David Dunn, pulled up next to Jordan and complained about the volume of the music. An argument ensued and instead of calling the police or driving away Michael Dunn chose to use his registered firearm to shoot into the car at least nine times. Two of those bullets struck and killed young Jordan Russell. More details will be coming soon but I believe that everyone can agree that this was a senseless killing. What guidance do the scriptures give us in these situations?

Proverbs 22:6  Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

As followers of Christ, it is our responsibility to teach our children the scriptures and how to deal with people according to the Bible. There are so many wicked people in the world and our children have to learn how to avoid conflicts with them. These types of lessons out of the Bible may save their lives!

Matthew 24:12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

There is no love in this world, especially amongst those that do not believe the Bible. Taking a life is nothing to the nations and those that do not follow Christ because they have more pleasure in wickedness than righteousness. Deuteronomy the 28th Chapter explains the curses that would fall upon the children of Israel for disobedience to the commandments and the following verses explain how we would always be in fear for our lives amongst the nations of the Earth.

Deuteronomy 28:65-66  And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:  (66)  And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:

So how do we avoid these situations? Remember the following scriptures:

Proverbs 29:22  An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.

Proverbs 15:1  A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Proverbs 20:3  It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

These two verses show us that we should not argue with angry men because they will increase in the evil that they desire to do. That is how a simple argument about music results in murder. Senseless! What we should do is use soft words and not argue at all to avoid the conflict. Sometimes this means to simply walk away. You will “lose” the argument and also save your life.

Oh God! This is so sad & stupidity on both parts. This man was looking to kill. Why else would you confront anyone in public. He is a bully. I just hope that our judicial system will be prudent and efficient and not lax. I hate stories like these.
