When you look at the images or view the videos associated with this article, you will see several topics that could be the focal points. Homosexuality in rap, rappers corrupting the younger generation or “homophobia” are all potential topics for this article based on the images. Today, we will keep it extremely simple by dealing with the way these men are dressing. A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and other rappers have all emerged with a “new” style and sense of fashion that some are calling different and cutting edge. These men have all chosen to adorn themselves in women’s clothing. Whether it is Kanye in a leather skirt, A$AP Rocky in a sun dress, or Lil Wayne with leopard print skinny jeans, they have taken a bold stance in the Hip Hop community with their garments.

I have to admit that when I first saw this “style” it made me think back to an episode of Boondocks by Aaron McGruder. There was a secretly gay gangster rapper named Ganstalicious that was promoting his clothing line which was women’s wear for men. Five years after the episode aired, we now have rappers donning women’s attire. Is this a case of life imitating art or has the world blurred the gender lines to the point that the satirical point of the episode is is now acceptable? Is this trend pleasing to the Heavenly Father?

The previous question can be answered with 100% certainty that this style is not pleasing to the Lord. In fact, the Lord hates what these rappers and others like them are doing and promoting. Deuteronomy 22:5 says, “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” This scripture clearly illustrates that men are commanded not to wear women’s clothing and vice versa. Dresses and skirts are women’s clothing. Men that choose to wear those articles of clothing are breaking the commandments and considered an abomination in the sight of the Lord. An abomination is something that the Lord hates!

Some will say, “Well that was for back then.” What does the Most High say?

Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Psalms 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

These three scriptures show us that times change but the Lord is not updating his commandments to suit the needs and desires of man. Mankind has to conform to the scriptures or be judged when Christ returns. It does not matter how much the rappers, fashion industry and society promote this evil fashion, as followers of Christ, we are not to follow it. Please bear in mind that this is what they are pushing to our youth through the music and media. If we do not teach them better, they will succumb to the whims of Satan. The magnificent thing about Christ is his life and death gave us the opportunity to repent from not only this sin, but all things that are contrary to the Bible. We pray that these scriptures and article lead you to repentance. Peace.
