Black History Month

When black history month comes around, what things immediately come to your mind?

For most of us, it is the civil rights marches in the 60’s, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and the things that were fought for, such as the right to vote or school integration.

Often times when black history is taught, it begins at slavery. When some people dare to venture beyond slavery, they teach that black people were once great kings in Africa and lived in societies that once flourished very well.

First and foremost, black is a color and it does not indicate a people’s true identity, according to God Almighty-the one who made all people.

Each set of people on the earth comes from a seed line, a progenitor if you will and should not be classified by color.

When we read the bible we see that the so called “blacks” have a deep history in the bible that started from the Garden of Eden (yes, from way back then).

So to find out the true history of a nation of people, we have to go by the word of God that is written in the bible.

Psalm 33:4  For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

The bible speaks about the Israelites, a nation of people that started with Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel and he had twelve sons which are the patriarchs of the Israelites.

These same Israelites-it was prophesied all throughout the bible that they would go into captivity (slavery) many times throughout the years because of their disobedience to God. Even up until the latter times, they would not be in their homeland of Jerusalem, but would be scattered throughout the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 46:9-10  Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

Here is one thing about the Israelites that was declared a long time before it came to pass,

Deuteronomy 28:68 And the Lord shall bring thee into Egypt (Egypt is a word synonymous with bondage) again with ships (remember hearing about slave ships that took millions of so called “black” people into slavery, also the Amistad) by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you. When the slave ships got to their destination, the Israelites were sold and no one was able to buy them back from out of slavery. The Israelites have not been in their homeland of Jerusalem since the scattering and it’s important to note that the 1947 sanction by the UN does not denote who the true Israelites are.

Luke 21:22-24 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

It’s been historically noted and documented that the fall of Jerusalem took place in 70 AD when the Romans came in and destroyed the land and some Israelites died while others went into captivity all over the world. The Gentiles, in this case (Luke 21:24) the Romans-would be in rule until the time that God has set up for their ruler ship to come to an end, as he has determined all things (Acts 17:24-26).

Deuteronomy 4:25-27,30 When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger:

26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

27 And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you.

30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;

This shows that the Israelites would be scattered all over the world and suffering tribulation even in the last days, which is the time period that we’re living in right now. So to have a celebration called Black History Month and upholding “black” to be the true identity of a people is not accurate because the Israelites were scattered all over the world and not all of them have a black complexion either.

It’s important to know our true identity, that we are a great and peculiar treasure in the sight of God when we follow his son Jesus Christ teachings, truly.

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

So the important thing to know about “black” history is not learning about corruptible men-our so called black leaders, or marches that were held that hasn’t better our conditions as a people a whole lot, but rather, keeping the commandments that was given to us a nation of people and being those beloved people in the eyes of the Lord, which would then lead the other nations of people to not look on us as the scum of the earth like they currently do.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

13 To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Deuteronomy 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
