Racism

Does racism still exists today? You bet it does and stronger than more people would like to believe. Most people think that we’ve come a long way as a country because the first black president has been elected. Yet as a historically disadvantaged group of people we still suffer racism. Consider some of the recent news stories that have come out. Take for example the case of the Red Lobster waitress that got a receipt with the word “none” written on the ‘Tip’ line and the N word written on the ‘Total’ line.

Or how about Craig Cobb, the white supremacist leader who was recently arrested with an associate in North Dakota for walking around with rifles and threatening some of the citizens.

Cobb states that he would like to turn the area into a ‘white enclave.

It’s so bad with this guy that he even refused to acknowledge a DNA test that says he’s partly black. Check out this video.

Ever wonder why these things happen and it’s been happening now for quite some time to just a particular set of people. Well, the bible gives us the answer.

Leviticus 26:13 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright. This was when the Lord was dealing with the Israelites through Moses when he freed them from the Egyptians.

He’s going to tell them what he requires them to do and if they don’t do it what will happen.

Leviticus 26:14, 33 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;

33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

The Israelites were taken out of their homeland of Jerusalem and scattered all over the world into captivity.

Luke 21:22, 24 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Leviticus 26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

Would this only happen once in biblical times or would it be forever?

Deuteronomy 28:45-46 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:

46 And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.

Knowing this, how should we live our lives, in fear?

We should follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as it was prophesied that through him we shall be saved from all those that hate us.

Luke 1:68-71Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation [Christ] for us in the house of his servant David;

70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

Matthew 11:28-29 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Keeping the commandments through the understanding of Christ will give us peace with our enemies until Christ comes back and a righteous kingdom is set up.

Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
