Living in a fearful world

It is definitely a fearful world that we live in. With all the mass shootings that’s been taking place over the last few years and they seem to be happening now more frequently. It seems as if every two months, we’re hearing about a mass shooting.

We’re also living in an economy that is still recovering here in the U.S. Other things such as, the possibility of another terrorist attack and the media outlets bombarding us with this information constantly, one might be left to live in constant fear of what might happen next.

But should we live our lives that way?

The disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ knew that the world is a very evil and wicked place and when they wrote letters to the different churches that were set up at that time; they reminded the church of that very same thing.

1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

The Lord also told us that abiding in his wisdom and knowledge is what will give us strength and stability in our lives.

Isaiah 33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

Where and how do we get this wisdom and knowledge?

By reading our bibles and applying the things that we read. When we examine some of the more recent stories of people that went “postal” they basically “had enough” as they say and had no frame of reference to turn to in order to get help. They gave into their anger and emotions, which the bible speaks about in great length especially about how Jesus Christ lived his life.

Christ had many reasons to get angry and go off into his emotions, but he didn’t and his examples were left for us to follow. All of us get tempted at some point or the other to go off into our emotions, but what should we refer to in order to prevent that?

We encourage you to check out our video below on Reading our Bibles, as it was left for us a guide to live our lives by.
