Chris Brown Music Video Promotes Extramarital Dating Website!

Disclaimer: As a Church we do not condone or endorse the message contained in this music video. We had the option of using the Radio Edit version for this article but instead chose the explicit version to ensure that parents are aware of what version their children are listening to. Most importantly, we wanted the message of the scriptures to be very clear in their condemnation of both the images and lyrics of this video!

Chris Brown’s video for his song “Loyal” has broken new ground in the realm of product placement by partnering with AshleyMadison.com. Ashley Madison is a dating website which advertises exclusively to married men and women who are looking to engage in an extramarital affair. Their ads are in no way subversive but instead very forward, flaunting their slogan “Life is Short, Have an Affair!” This blatant disregard for relationships and the laws of God are evident in the video as a scantily clad female uses the website AshleyMadison.com to cheat on her man while Chris Brown trumpets the lyrics “These Hoes ain’t Loyal”. According to the website Infidelity Facts.com, 53% of marriages end in divorce with 41% ended due to infidelity. But despite the record number of families and relationships torn apart by this betrayal, the scriptures explain that “Fools” will continue to mock the Laws of God!

Proverbs 14:9
Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Ashley Madison Founder and CEO Noel Biderman released the statement “Music and infidelity have long been tied together. For decades, artists have sung about people’s cheating way, and songs have the power to make people think about their own relationship. AshleyMadison.com’s partnership with Chris Brown is telling of how common infidelity is, and that younger generations are more accepting of it.”

Ecclesiastes 7:5
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.

The scriptures tell us that it is better for us to hear the reproof and correction of the Holy Bible than for us to uplift the foolish, sinful songs of the wicked. Biderman’s comment about this generations acceptance of infidelity is also summed up in the book of Proverbs which explains how this generation would descend into even more ungodliness!

Proverbs 30:12
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

The scriptures warn that we are living in a generation that is pure in their own eyes which is evident in the wholesale acceptance of sin. Chris Browns video is a very small symptom of the much larger disease which glorifies wickedness as the cultural norm; but when the judgment of the Heavenly Father and his Christ comes to pass on this Earth, all the singing and dancing will be replaced by mourning. We therefore urge the readers to consider what the Lord teaches us about the sanctity of marriage in the book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 13:4
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

And what is the Biblical Judgment for the sin of Adultery?

Proverbs 6:32
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

Leviticus 20:10
And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
