Church Bans Children to Keep Child Molester Pastor!

Shiloh Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida has recently resurfaced on the internet as bloggers recall the incident in 2012 which placed Darrell Gilyard, a convicted sex offender as Bishop of their congregation. Fueling the intensity of this scandal was the controversial decision made by Shiloh Baptist Church to ban children from their Sunday services. This was done to fulfill compliance with the conditions of Gilyards plea agreement which prohibits unsupervised contact with children under 18 years old. In 2009 Gilyard plead guilty to lewd conduct and lewd molestation of two underage girls which took place while he was the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church. According to the report Gilyard molested a 15-year-old girl and sent a lewd text message to another. The corrupt Christian Churches of today have seen their fair share of scandals, but the scriptures teach us that a person such as Gilyard is clearly unfit to lead a congregation.

1 Timothy 3 This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work .2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

The Apostle Paul warns us that a Bishop of the Lord must be Blameless and of good behavior as he must set a positive example for the congregation. This same Bishop must also have a good reputation from those within and without the congregation. How then can a registered sex offender and admitted child molester fulfill these requirements? There are many other shortcomings which can be cited in regards to Darrell Gilyard Pastorship. However, these verses alone prove beyond debate that he is totally unfit to lead ANY congregation.

The errors of Shiloh Baptist Church were compounded when they decided to ban children from their Sunday services. During the times when our Lord Jesus Christ walked the Earth a similar incident took place which greatly displeased the Lord.

Mark 10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

The Lord Jesus clearly shows us that children are to be allowed to worship and not forbidden access to him. This is a grave offense with dire consequences. In another passage the Lord testifies that he will punish all such offenses with a dreadful death.

Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Considering the great condemnation that the scriptures place on those who commit such sins we would urge Shiloh Baptist Church and all who follow their wicked example to speedily repent before the wrath of the Lord comes forth!
