Our Chavez who art in heaven…!!?

Say it aint so. But it is. According to a recent msn news article, the Lord’s Prayer was rewritten to commemorate the late Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chavez. A political party member read the prayer at a convention stating, “Our Chavez who art in heaven” continuing on to say “lead us not into the temptation of capitalism.”

Christ gave the Lord’s Prayer to his disciples who then recorded it in what’s collectively called, the bible, today. The words of the bible are holy and we should take it as such and not add on to the words or take away from it.

Revelation 22:18-19  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

People are also looking to Chavez as some sort of a saint that they can get help from, even though he’s been dead.

The only one that lives forever that we should praise and seek help from is the Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.

Psalm 146:1-4 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. 2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. 3 Put not your trust in princes [princes means a leader in this context, like Hugo Chavez was], nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Hugo Chavez has been dead and returned to the earth where we all come from and have no more thoughts or anything else for that matter that can help people.

We also have to be careful when we put men in high esteem above God, as he is a jealous God.

The article states “Chavez’s legacy has taken on a religious glow in Venezuela since the leader’s death last year. Rosaries adorned with Chavez’s face, shrines and images depicting him with a Christian cross have become commonplace.”

Exodus 20:4-5 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Those that are doing these things need to forsake those wicked ways and worship God and his son Jesus Christ truly.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
