Blessings from God

When most people hear the term blessings from God they automatically think of money. But blessings from God don’t always mean monetary gain-as is taught by a lot of prominent preachers, especially the “prosperity preachers.”

One of the most significant blessings from God that one can receive is, the understanding of the things that we need to do in order to inherit eternal life. This might seem like a very general statement given the many religion and philosophies that claim to have the one and only true path to salvation.

Not everyone was given the understanding of the Holy Scriptures and those who do understand the scriptures for what it truly is are blessed.

Christ explained this to his disciples when they asked him why he spoke to the people in parables (a statement or comment that conveys a meaning indirectly by the use of comparison, analogy, or the like.)

Matthew 13:10-11,13,16 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

It is no different from the ones of us today that have been blessed with the some of the understanding of the scriptures and of Jesus Christ. Because to understand the scriptures and applying them to our daily lives is a blessing, as explained by Christ.

Luke 11:27-28 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

When millions of people that go to church say that they are already saved and break every commandment that there is, their eyes have not been opened and they have not been given that true blessing from God. Because the scriptures in Matthew 24:13, Romans 3:31 teach us quite the contrary from what these people believe in.

In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Christ also mentioned several blessings and none of them was monetary.

Matthew 5:3-11

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Here we see that some blessings are also the things that we suffer and endure for the kingdom of heaven’s sake.

God does bless some of us with wealth also when we are truly keeping his commandments and following the examples of his son Jesus Christ, as can be seen with the example of Abraham in Genesis 24:34-35 and also with the disciples of Christ in Mark 10:28-30.

But oftentimes people get it distorted when they see famous people with all their wealth and glory that are breaking every commandment of God and say that those people are blessed.

What many people fail to realize is that Satan will also bless you for following him. Yes Satan will also bless you! He made that same promise to Christ when he was being tempted of him.

Luke 4:5-8  And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
