NFL Star Finds True Wealth in a Life of Service!

At one point in time Jason Brown was the highest paid center in the NFL with a contract offering him 37.5 million dollars over 5yrs. So what would make this former St. Louis Ram walk away from it all to become of all things, a Farmer????

The answer was – A life of service! Jason’s plan was to use his newly purchased 100 acres of farmland to feed the poor and needy. His organization “First Fruits Farm” donates the first harvest to food pantries in the state with the first harvest reportedly donating 46,000 pounds of sweet potatoes and 10,000 pounds of cucumbers this fall.

1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that theybe not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

Jason Brown recalls the conversation between him and his agent at the time:

“My agent, he told me, ‘You’re making the biggest mistake of your life,'”. “And I looked right back at him and I said, ‘No I am not.'”

Ecclesiastes 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

According to Jason, even though he has earned a great deal of fame and fortune in his life, he has never felt as successful as he does now “Not in man’s eyes but in the eyes of God”.
